Tincup Pass is located in a fairly remote area of the Sawatch Mountain range in central Colorado. During Colorado's settlement era, Tincup Pass served as a passing point between the mining towns of St. Elmo and Tincup, located on the east and west sides of the divide respectively. Today, both towns are considered "ghost towns" and Tincup Pass Road is an extremely bumpy road that can only be accessed by a high clearance 4-wheel drive vehicle. ATV'ers and hikers are also known to visit Tincup Pass in the summer time. That is my friend Chris in the photo above, who graciously drove me up to the divide in August 2006.
During my most recent visit in 2010 ... a shot of myself with the Abel family. We had a lot of fun 4-wheeling the loop of Buena Vista, St. Elmo, Tincup Pass, Taylor Park and Cottonwood Pass. :)
Beautiful mountain scenery at the pass. Links 2007 Visit To Tincup Pass - 4WD Jeep Ride With Chris. ATV & Jeep Rental - At The St. Elmo General Store.
