In June 2009, I hiked to the summit of Twining Peak, located on the Continental Divide and approximately 2-3 miles north of Independence Pass. For most climbers, beginning at the parking lot at Independence Pass is the most common route, although I suppose one could summit the mountain via one of the many high altitude lakes nearby.

Above is a photo taken near a saddle before the final ascent of the mountain's southern ridge.
